KAIROS
by Anton Ariki
Synopsis
In 1677, Kali is accused of witchcraft. As the witch-hunters drag her away to be burned, her lover Bruno freezes and does nothing. It's a failure that follows his soul for centuries. In 2020, John is a lost man drifting through a rainy night. After he's thrown out of a bar, he comes across a woman, Linn, being attacked in an alley. Like Bruno before him, he stops and watches. Then the two eras start to blur together: the pyre and the alley, Kali and Linn, Bruno and John. Something old wakes up in John, and this time he doesn't freeze. He lights a makeshift torch and fights the attackers off. Afterwards, Linn looks at him as if she's seen him before. Maybe she has. KAIROS is a story about love across lifetimes, and the courage it takes to finally act on it.
